1. A mall in northern China has sparked criticism after it created special parking spots for women that are 11-inches wider than normal spots, and painted bright pink.

The spots are deemed “respectfully reserved for ladies,” and although some appreciate them, others are calling the spots sexist and disrespectful.

One (female) manager at the mall, Yang Hongjun, said that officials just wanted to make parking easier for women.

“Women make up most of our customers,” she said. “If their parking spaces are larger, it’s only for practical reasons. It doesn’t mean that women drive less well than men.”

Zaful Review:
Hey Everyone! My name is Setareh, I’m 6 months pregnant {at the time of this video} and in search of cute and affordable “maternity-wear” fashion. Now I will say that Zaful isn’t a maternity wear website they did have quite a few options available that appear to have room for growing and a softer, flowy look which is one of the reasons why I checked out their site.

As I mentioned in the video I watched quite a few reviews on YouTube as well as did some research online about this company. Since their prices were cheap I went ahead and placed an order for a few items to test out my experience. Here are the items I purchased, received and reviewed:
– Chain Design Openwork Necklace:

– Lace Spliced Open Back Maxi Dress:

– Solid Color Backless Maxi Sundress:

– Spaghetti Strap Loose-Fitting Maxi Dress:

– Floral Pattern Lace Splicing Sleeveless Maxi Dress:

After trying on all the items here are my final thoughts…
– Chain Design Openwork Necklace: Not disappointed at all and excited to wear this with both the items I purchased as well as other pairings in my closet

– Lace Spliced Open Back Maxi Dress: After trying it on I noticed that the seam was coming apart between the lace ruffle and waistline of the dress, a simple fix nonetheless but I’m going to have to do some work on it before I’m able to wear it. Also there isn’t much support up top so I might even sew in some binding or fabric that will have a better grip along with possibly adding additional straps to stay on so I don’t have to worry about wardrobe malfunctions. I mentioned this dress is sheer however if you’re wearing it for an evening event that won’t have a direct spotlight on you then you should be fine without a slip under but daytime will more than likely need one.

– Solid Color Backless Maxi Sundress: Not much I can say about this dress as its quite basic. Its not flattering for the body because it doesn’t have shape but I think its going to be great for the remainder of my pregnancy.

– Spaghetti Strap Loose-Fitting Maxi Dress: Definitely did NOT meet my expectations. The website stated “floor length” for this item however it only goes just past my knees about upper calf length and I am 5’8” tall. Also because of the pockets if your hands aren’t in them all the time like they are in the websites photos online then it looks like you have MAJOR saddlebags for hips. However I will say that this dress is going to be perfect for post-delivery since its easy to wear around the house and has those pockets that I can just slip things in like my phone when I’m walking around with my hands full carrying the baby. Not quite the reason why I wanted this dress but I am determined to make it work for something.

– Floral Pattern Lace Splicing Sleeveless Maxi Dress: This one makes me sad because it is a pretty and simple detailed gown however the bust area does not fit to save my life. All of the dresses I ordered were a size large and mind you even if I wasn’t pregnant I don’t know that this would have fit me {naturally a 34D, pre-pregnancy} so please keep that in mind and I will include a note of that in my review on their website. Aside from that the length was great and although the fabric was a cheaper quality it appeared to be nicely constructed.

In my honest opinion this will probably be the first and last time that I order clothing from here just because it is so unexpected what you may actually receive. I do mention about my advice for shipping which was a great experience since I received my items with a pretty quick turnaround time. Hope this review has helped you in deciding whether or not to purchase from Zaful. Thank you so much for watching! 💕

Anyone who has a band is an Urban Outfitters customer. So is the girl who has not yet realized that quirky is sexy. And a huge portion of the company’s $2.8 billion in annual sales comes from the “upscale homeless.”

At least that’s how the management at Urban Outfitters views some of its core customers. While shoppers at its stores, which include Anthropologie and Free People, may not have heard themselves being described this way, investors and Wall Street analysts are quite familiar with the company’s hilariously specific descriptions of its core consumer. Urban Outfitters’ “upscale homeless” customers are people who rent rather than live on the street, Anthropologie shoppers are “the customer you want to have at a dinner table,” and Free People consumers travel “every spring to festivals, Coachella and Wanderlust being her favorite.”

At a September meeting with analysts, Sue Otto, an executive director at Urban Outfitters, joked that after 31 years studying customers of the brand, she may ultimately rack up more experience than Jane Goodall, the famed anthropologist who researched chimpanzees for 50 years. But Goodall never leveraged her research into selling $40 studded iPhone covers or $300 floaty dresses.

Read on to discover which species of retail shopper you are.

“The Urban customer … has a slight degree of angst.”

“The Urban customer, we always talk about, is the upscale homeless person, who has a slight degree of angst and is probably in the life stage of 18 to 26 … The Anthropologie customer is a bit more polished, a bit more older and she has much less angst … She tends to be a homeowner and she tends to be in a relationship and more likely than not, married with children.” — Chief Executive Officer Richard Hayne, September 2012 Analyst Day

Webcast of September 2012 analyst day / Via edge.media-server.com

“The Urban customer is really dressing to attract a mate. The Anthropologie customer is dressing for respectability in her community, with her friends and family.”

“We say that this is the customer you want to have at a dinner table. She’s an optimist. She’s aware of what’s going on in the world, but she chooses to focus on the positives, not the negatives … She shops at J.Crew, she shops at Nordstrom, she shops at boutiques … She may go to Banana Republic for a basic pant, but she’s not buying her wardrobe there. She’s not shopping at Ann Taylor. She’s certainly not shopping at Chico’s.” — Former Urban Outfitters CEO Glen Senk, November 2011 earnings call

A dress for respectability… Anthropologie website / Via images.anthropologie.com

And another for snagging that mate. Urban Outfitters website / Via urbanoutfitters.com

“Our customer is from traditional homes and advantage, but this offers them the benefit of rebellion.”

“…Probably when they were little, they saw the older kids do something they thought was really cool, and they weren’t allowed to do it and now that they’re adults, it’s sort of like ice cream for breakfast, they can do whatever they want now. They’re out on their own, independent. So one thing that actually Urban Outfitters is selling now is Beavis and Butthead tees, which sort of surprised me because I was no fan of it, but maybe I was little bit older then, but that was in 1992 … They undoubtedly probably don’t know anything about Beavis and Butthead but simply remember that being something the older cool kids did and something, clearly, they were denied.” — Sue Otto, September 2012 Analyst Day

Via edge.media-server.com

The Urban shopper “leads a pretty cloistered existence.”

“Although they deem themselves worldly, they believe the way they see things personally is the correct way and everyone else feels exactly the same way.” — Sue Otto, September 2012 Analyst Day

Via edge.media-server.com

“At Urban Outfitters, we get it … ‘It’ is whatever walks through the front door.”

“That’s the easiest way to say what ‘it’ is. It is the incoming freshman, the struggling art school kid, the girl who dresses differently than her friends. The kid who has a band, anybody who has a band is our customer. I’m dead straight on that. And the girl who has not realized that quirky is sexy and that being a hipster is not simply a marketing tool, it’s someone that just does something differently than others.” — Kevin Lyons, executive creative director at Urban Outfitters, September 2012 Analyst Day

“The Free People customer is happy. She loves life.”

“She is independent yet loves being with her friends, her family, and her mate. She travels every spring to festivals, Coachella and Wanderlust being her favorite. She runs and practices yoga to stay fit and balanced. She is influenced by fashion but yet seeks inspiration from all over the world to put together a look that is her own. She is a mix of sweet, cool, and boho and everything in between. We target age 26…” — Meg Hayne, Free People president, September 2012 Analyst Day

Whatever Urban Outfitters is doing seems to be working for the company.

Sales for its most recent year were about $2.8 billion, a 13% increase from the prior period, with most of that coming from Urban and Anthropologie. Here’s a breakdown of how its revenue looked for the year ended Jan. 31, 2013:

This study ranked the top 12 cities in the world based on four items, with each category given a score from 1 to 10:

1. Getting around: How easy it is to move around and how expensive it is to do so.
2. Value: Average price of products.
3. Variety: Available brands and types of stores.
4. Experience: City beauty and staff service.

Here are the results:

12. Seoul, South Korea

Getting around: 4
Value: 7
Variety: 4
Experience: 6

Total: 21

Great for local goods, but stay away from buying foreign brands since they tend to be marked up. Keep in mind that all shops must accept credit cards, regardless of how low the purchase is.

11. Milan, Italy

Getting around: 5
Value: 5
Variety: 4
Experience: 8

Total: 22

You’ll find the most glamorous shops in this beautiful city (remember: Prada, Versace, and Dolce & Gabbana were all born here). Milan being one of the “fashion capitals,” anything you find here will be ahead of anything you can find back home.

10. Madrid, Spain

Getting around: 6
Value: 6
Variety: 4
Experience: 7

Total: 23

According to the Globe Shopper Index, Madrid is the third-best city in Europe to go shopping because of its friendly prices. The city’s “rebajas” (sales) are something to keep an eye on.

9. Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Getting around: 6
Value: 6
Variety: 8
Experience: 4

Total: 24

The first Bloomingdale’s outside of the U.S. is here. But that’s not all; every year, it hosts the Dubai Shopping Festival, when products are discounted up to 70%. Ready to go crazy?

8. Vienna, Austria

Getting around: 6
Value: 8
Variety: 3
Experience: 8

Total: 25

Shopping here is more about the experience than anything else. Keep in mind that shops close super early, so make time between all the sightseeing for some window shopping.

7. Buenos Aires, Argentina

Getting around: 6
Value: 8
Variety: 6
Experience: 7

Total: 27

Fantastic place for leather goods and shoes. Argentina also has a flourishing fashion industry that was showcased during New York Fashion Week.

6. Hong Kong

Getting around: 10
Value: 5
Variety: 6
Experience: 7

Total: 28

Shopping is one of the major attractions in Hong Kong: It’s a good place for fashion, electronics, watches, AND jewelry.

5. Paris, France

Getting around: 6
Value: 6
Variety: 8
Experience: 9

Total: 29

Paris is another major fashion capital, so anything you buy here will be stylish and chic. With that comes high prices. At least you can get inspired and fly to another of these 12 cities to buy stuff, right?

4. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Getting around: 6
Value: 10
Variety: 8
Experience: 6

Total: 30

Three of the 10 largest malls in the world can be found in Kuala Lumpur. Does that say enough about the shopping culture in this city? Also, did you see it got the top score for the “Value” category? 😉

3. London, England

Getting around: 6
Value: 6
Variety: 10
Experience: 9

Total: 31

Oh, look, another major fashion capital is here! As expected, the prices in this city will make you want to cry. But the London style cannot be compared to anything, and there are enough little stores to find a bargain you can actually afford.

2. Tokyo, Japan

Getting around: 8
Value: 8
Variety: 9
Experience: 9

Total: 34

Tokyo is the fourth-cheapest city in Asia!!!! But everything else in this city is über-expensive, so you can forget about eating if you really want to go on a shopping spree.

1. New York, United States

Getting around: 8
Value: 7
Variety: 10
Experience: 10

Total: 35

From vintage to retail, from full price to sales, from 5th Avenue to Chinatown, New York has it all.

1. At first, you’re skeptical of the hype.

Remember Jelly Bracelets? Or Silly Bandz? Where are they now, even?

2. But like…EVERYONE is doing it.

You were never one to stand up to peer pressure.

3. So you cave and order your own Rainbow Loom.

It’s just a mere $17, after all.

4. It arrives. And it looks complicated.

WHAT IS THIS WITCHCRAFT.

5. Your first project turns out okay.

But the best part is that you actually made something!

6. And before you know it, you’re getting the hang of it.

It’s actually really soothing.

7. You start to figure out new techniques.

You could start an Etsy store! Hell, you could make Rainbow Loom wedding dresses!!

8. Time to REALLY start shopping.

You need a lot of supplies if you’re going to fulfill your visions. Anyway, you’ll totally save money on gifts come Christmas time ‘cause you’ll make everyone bracelets! (That’s the plan, anyway.)

9. Soon, everyone you know is sporting at least one of your creations.

Whether they like it or not.

10. And everywhere you look, you’re inspired.

The whole world is your Rainbow Loom oyster.

11. When you find yourself stranded somewhere (like work or school, UGH) without your loom, you learn to improvise.

12. No outfit feels complete without a touch of Loom.

Yes, (you are quick to point out to people, even if they don’t ask) it’s a Rainbow Loom BAG! EVERYONE NEEDS ONE.

13. You start to run out of room in your house.

14. You isolate yourself from friends and family.

They don’t understand you. They’ll never appreciate your love.

15. Your hands ache, your eyes are strained, but you keep on going through the pain.

16. Until one day you finally run out of rubber bands.

How could this happen?!

17. But it’s all good; you just call your fellow Rainbow Loom-obsessed friends, get them to come over, and Loom to your hearts’ content.

Friends who Loom together stay together.

“Youre the one.”

“Will you be my Tindarella?”

“Wanna bang?”

These are just a few of the romantic one-liners that open up a conversation via digital platform, hopefully to result in a meet-up.

Were a generation that grew up having to court people the old-fashioned way: in person. We had books giving us rules for playing hard to get.

(Anyone read “The Game”back in the day?)

But lets face it: The mobile life has made life way more entertaining, and dating is honestly a lot easier for the majority of us.Were still playing the game, but the field has expanded.

Its been leveled out, and the gamification of dating is here to stay.

What is gamification? Well, its essentially placing the concepts built into games (such as challenges, rewards, levels and fun) in an arena that isnt technically considered a game. In this case, thatd be dating.

Its no secret we live in a digital world. Our lives depend on our smartphones and constant connection to the Internet, along with instant gratification.

There is an app for everything.Due to our tech-savvy abilities from having grown up with the latest and greatest technology, weve become obsessed with using them.

With advanced mobile processors, gamification is pretty much inevitable, and its interwoven itself into half of the apps that lie on our phones.

Gamification has spread across all industries, and were seeing more mobile apps for health, education, shopping, budgeting and just plain entertainment.

So why wouldnt we embrace it to help us in the dating scene?

Whether it’s Tinder, Happn, Hinge, Bumble or OkCupid, the list goes on and on when it comes to mobile dating apps.

There are both pros and cons for using dating apps, and were the first generation to really experience them firsthand.

One of the greatest positives of mobile dating games is they alleviate the pressure of trying to find out if someone is even attracted to you (looks-wise) in the first place.

It shields us from the dreaded front-facing rejection that happens at the bars. With a quick swipe left or right, you can find who agreeably matches with you and thinks youre hot stuff.

The negative aspect of not having someone right in front of you, though, is you cant really gauge personality as accurately.

Inner beauty, which often makes someone so attractive, is likely overlooked if you stick to the surface-y, hot-or-not-in-picture route.

Its led to the importance of text message game: If its #OnFleek, youre usually able to convert the shallow, digital first impression into a tangible, real life get-together.

Conversation is key to determining if you actually might be interested in someone or not on a deeper level. Some people may just be better at talking in person as opposed to typed words, and vice versa.

Mobile apps, however, have been a savior for the more timid-at-first types, indirectly growing and diversifying a dating pool that previously left out a lot of shy guys and gals.

Of course, theres always a concern for safety when you play the mobile dating game.

You really never know who’s on the other end, and when you do meet up for a first date or hook-up (no judgment), its definitely best to meet in a public place so you know the other person is legit.

For the career-driven people too busy to put in the extra work into finding companionship, or for the people who move to a new city and dont know anyone, mobile dating apps are very useful.

Its not easy meeting people, especially as everyone around you starts to settle down and social circles decrease. These apps help counter the seclusion.

Dating apps have opened the doors for meeting people you may never come across otherwise.

Sometimes, you dont really want to sit at a bar or go to a club alone, hoping someone will talk to you.

Overall, the gamification of dating and forming relationships has made the world our oyster.

Some of us choose not to participate, exercising our ability to use ourgame in person.

Some of us exercise our sales pitch about ourselves by lining up first dates back-to-back and tapping into that Tinder block. Some of us are really just trying to keep it simple, and need some straight-up loving.

Whatever floats your boat.

This is what the new game of dating has given us. So play on, players, and get some action.
